About the Choir
Since its inception in 1997, the Collegium Symphonic Chorus has impressed and mesmerised audiences throughout Australia and overseas, including New York, Salzburg and Vienna.
Led by internationally-acclaimed conductor, Dr Margaret Pride, the Chorus comprises close to 100 disciplined, enthusiastic and passionate individuals who are skilled in performing the works of some of the best choral composers throughout the ages.
With a varied repertoires ranging from full-scale works for large choirs and orchestras, to madrigal, gospel and lighter pieces including choruses from musicals, the Perth-based choir has gained a reputation for a purity of sound, tone and spirit which translates into music that brings joy to the heart.
The Chorus performs annually at the Perth Concert Hall and Winthrop Hall, in addition to other venues across Western Australia. International links have also been established in Singapore, Europe and the USA.
Each year, the Chorus presents an annual subscription series of three concerts. These change from year to year, but in recent times have included Mozart's Coronation Mass and Sparrow Mass, Faure's and Verdi's Requiems, Rachmaninoff's Verspers, Haydn's Creation, and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
In December each year, a rendition of Handel's Messiah is performed in the Perth Concert Hall. In recent years, the Messiah performance has been recorded for the ABC's Sunday Arts Program.
